The Heritage of a Vintage Barber Chair

Blain Fuller inherited this chair from his best friend’s father, Cam Bratt. Cam bought it used in the early 1970’s and used it in his barber shop in Camrose. Blain has had the chair for 5-6 years. His children used to bounce on it, which may account for the poor condition of the seat. This chair is upholstered in grey vinyl. The vinyl on the seat is badly cracked and torn. The arms are covered in shiny red vinyl, which is very worn, torn and discolored. The chrome is in good condition. The base of the chair is made of yellow metal and chrome. There is a handle on the right side of the chair that controls a mechanism to raise and lower the chair. This mechanism is jammed. There used to be a headrest that fit into the slot in the top of the chair back, but it was lost before the chair came here. The seat cushion is secured to the frame by a wing nut on the bottom of the chair.
