Judge Paul Adilman: A Legacy in Wetaskiwin’s Court

Moving on into this week, the heritage museum would like to share with you judge Paul Adilman’s nameplate from his time serving at the provincial court here in Wetaskiwin. Adilman graduated from law school in Saskatoon in 1959. He moved to Wetaskiwin in 1961 to work with Fred McNaughton to start McNaughton Adilman and Siris law firm. The building they worked in was located at 5201-51 avenue, called the Macadil building. They shared the building with the Wetaskiwin branch of the social services department. The building was so crowded that there were many offices in the basement. In June 1983 the last jury trial in the stately old courthouse was held, and not too long after, Adilman was appointed to the provincial court of Alberta here in Wetaskiwin. He served in this position until 2005, when he retired.
