This week at the Heritage Museum we accessioned a variety of black and white photos. Most of the individuals in the photos we could not identify. These photos are either individual portraits or group photos. One photo is of Doris Hanna, one of five Children to Beda (Beatrice) Ronn Hannah one of our Women of Aspenland. Beda would arrive in Wetaskiwin in 1897 and marry Lou Hanna in 1904. The couple would be the first married in the Wetaskiwin Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The church is no longer in the original location. Beda would have Doris on March 1, 1911. The family lived eleven kilometers west of Wetaskiwin with Beda’s parents. Once most of the children graduated public school they moved back into the city. Beda would be a massive help to Wetaskiwin when it was hit by floods in spring of 1948. She was a member of the Red Cross who bought hot soup, sandwiches, and coffee for the men doing the labor-intensive jobs. Beda passed away in July 1957 at the age of 76.
