Orange Shirt Day Youth Art Contest Form 2022

In the spirit of community and celebration, the Wetaskiwin & District Heritage Museum and the City of Wetaskiwin would like to invite you and your students to participate in Wetaskiwin’s 5th Annual Alberta Culture Days Art Contest.

Event Description

The Wetaskiwin & District Heritage Museum, in partnership with the City of Wetaskiwin and a variety of diverse organizations throughout our community, is proud to announce that our Community of Wetaskiwin City, County, and Maskwacîs will continue to act as a celebration site for the 2022 Alberta Culture Days.

Honouring the wîtaskîwin spatinâw treaty of peace made between the Nēhiyaw (Cree) and Niitsítapi (Blackfoot) People after which Wetaskiwin City and County were named, and the 92nd anniversary of the Wetaskiwin Peace Cairn, which commemorates this peace, we are coming “together on the land” to celebrate our collective stories. This multi-day collaborative event will provide residents and visitors a taste of the wide range of cultural experiences available in our great community.  Just like the individual stones in the Wetaskiwin Peace Cairn, each group will bring with them a variety of activities through which we can find solidarity in our diversity and a common identity that we can be proud of for present and future generations.
